If you know of a better place for biking, I’d like to know about it. One of the best things about Portalnd is it’s love of cycling, whethet it’s on the road, in the mud, or just plain old rolling around town. As you’d expect there are a number of awesome shops in the area. I’ve had a lot of luck with the Bike Gallery, but if you’re looking for a more independent feel, I’ve heard Gateway Bicycle on 119th and Halsey is a well-informed and personal experience. Any other recommendations for stores, routes, or brands should be posted here.
Bikes Paths & Kayaks
Sometimes you need to find a better way to get to work. One that combines work with play. The South Waterfront is conveniently connected to the 40-mile bike loop, so biking to work doesn’t mean dodging cars. If that isn’t good enough, you could always kayak to work.
